BOAT RENTALS
Boat rentals are available from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on days only when the temperature is above 68°F. Children ages 12 to 16 must have a note from a parent to rent or approval from a legal guardian that is present. A $10 deposit or a driver’s license is required for all rentals. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn when boats are in the water. Rental rates are listed below.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
ADMISSION

• children 7 and under must be accompanied or supervised at all times by someone 16 and older
• children 8 to 10 must be accompanied or supervised by someone 11 and older
• only grandparents watching grandchildren do not have to pay – they must be in street clothes

REASONS FOR NON-ADMISSION

• any infections, open sores, bandages, adhesive tape, etc.
• appearance of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs

 ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN FACILITY

• glass bottles and tobacco products
• animals or pets – exception for seeing-eye dogs
• smoking in the beach area or bathhouse
• cut–offs or long pants – swimmers are not allowed beyond the lifelines wearing a shirt

 BATHHOUSE

• the bathhouse is for the use of swimmers and park patrons only
• horseplay is not allowed in the bathhouse

 OTHER RESTRICTIONS

• horseplay, pushing, sand throwing, etc. is not allowed in the beach area
• Coast Guard approved life jackets are permitted only with parental supervision in the water

• children who are not toilet trained must wear swim pants – swim pants are available for purchase at the front entrance
• boat launching by trailer is not allowed in the beach area
• fishing is not allowed during open swim hours and inside the piers or buoys
• hanging on lifelines and buoys is not allowed
• jumping off the piers is not allowed

 MANAGEMENT

• lifeguards have the right to restrict swimmers to designated areas based on their swimming ability
• managers have the authority to suspend beach use to individuals misusing the facility
• conditions for closing the beach include – temperature below 68°F, persistent rain, and electrical storms over or around the beach
• the City of McHenry and staff of Petersen Park Beach are not responsible for personal injuries or lost or stolen articles
