within the corporate City of McHenry limits. School district
boundaries do not apply. Residents pay City Resident (CR) rates.
Non–Residents: Non–residents are individuals and families that
live outside the corporate City of McHenry limits. This includes
those living in Lakemoor, Johnsburg, McCullom Lake, Wonder Lake and
unincorporated areas of McHenry. Non–residents pay Non–City Resident
(NCR) rates. If you are unsure of your status or have questions,
call the Parks and Recreation office for assistance.
Non–Resident Rates:
Non–Resident rates may be up to 25% more than the resident rates.
Aging:
Age is determined as of June 1, 2009 and Grade is determined as of
Fall 2009, unless otherwise stated.
Payment:
Program enrollment only occurs with payment. Payment can be made by
personal check, cash or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and now
Discover). Checks need to be made payable to the City of McHenry.
There is a $25 charge for returned checks. Enrollments can be taken
over the phone if a household credit covers the entire fee. Payment
cannot be taken over the phone.
Receipts:
Registration confirmations will be mailed indicating enrollment or
waitlist, along with program details of date, time and location.
Waivers:
The program waiver on the enrollment form must be signed and dated
by the participant or parent/legal guardian. The City of McHenry
will not assume responsibility for accidents or injuries which occur
while participating in any program.
Waitlists: If you are contacted regarding an opening after
being placed on a waitlist, you must make payment within three
working days of notice. If payment is not received, others on the
waiting list will be contacted. New sessions may be added if space,
time, and instructor are available.
Program
Refunds:
A refund/credit will be given for a program which is cancelled by
the department. A refund/credit will also be given if you decide to
withdraw from a program. A refund/credit will not be given if you
decide to withdraw on the day the program begins or after the
program has started. Withdrawing from a program will result in a $5
administrative or credit card fee unless you decide to keep the
credit on your household account. Refunds are processed through the
finance department and may take 4–6 weeks to be processed.
Field Trip Refunds: If you decide to withdraw
from a field trip, a refund/credit will only be given if your
seat/ticket can be sold to someone else. Withdrawing from a trip
will result in a $5 administrative or credit card fee unless you
decide to keep the credit on your household account.
Household Credits:
Credits may remain on your household account indefinitely and can be
used for future program enrollments, pool passes, or facility
rentals.
Changes/Cancellations: We reserve the right to
consolidate, postpone or cancel programs due to low enrollment.
Please register at least four working days before a program begins;
otherwise a program may be cancelled three working days before the
start date due to low enrollment.
Weather:
Staff will notify participants if a program is cancelled due to
inclement weather. You may call the office for cancellation
information, but no sooner than one hour before the start of the
program. After 5:00 pm, please call 815–363–2160 for recorded
cancellation information. Not all programs are cancelled when
schools are cancelled.
