The pool opens Memorial Day weekend. There are special hours during
the opening week and closing week when McHenry schools are in
session.

POOL CLOSINGS
The pool closes to the public for swim team events and
will be closed on June 11, June 16, June 23, June 30, July 9, July
14 and July 21 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

POOL PASSES/FEES
Metal pool passes can be purchased for the season and must be sewn
onto the swimming suit, otherwise access to the pool will be denied.
If you have more than one suit, additional tags can be purchased for
$5 each. Passes are to be used by original owner only. Anyone giving
a tag to another person will lose his or her tag use for the summer.
Passes go on sale Monday, May 4 at the Parks and Recreation office.
Passes cannot be purchased at the Knox Park Pool office.
Refunds of daily admission fees will not be given after the purchase
of passes.

POOL RENTALS
Pool rentals will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
from May 30 to August 22. Rental time is from 7:15 pm to 9:15 pm.
Cost is $165 per rental. Reservations can be made beginning Monday,
May 4 at the Parks and Recreation office. Reservations must be made
in person and cannot be made over the phone.
RULES AND
REGULATIONS
ADMISSION
- pool tags
must be sewn on swimsuits – pool tags cannot be pinned on suits
- children 7
and under must be accompanied or supervised at all times by
someone 16 and older
- children 8
to 10 must be accompanied or supervised by someone 11 and older
- only
grandparents watching grandchildren do not have to pay – they
must be in street clothes
- swimmers
must be 4 feet tall or have passed “Red Cross level III swim
class” to be allowed outside the shallow end of the pool – if
swimmers do not meet these requirements then an adult must
accompany or supervise them
REASONS FOR
NON-ADMISSION
- any
infections, open sores, bandages, adhesive tape, etc.
- appearance
of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
ITEMS
NOT ALLOWED IN FACILITY
- glass
bottles, food, gum and tobacco products – eating is only allowed
in concession area
- animals or
pets – exception for seeing-eye dogs
- smoking in
the facility, concession area or on the pool deck
- swim fins,
masks, water wings, air mattresses, inflatable toys, beach
balls, inner tubes, etc.
- cut–offs or
T-shirts – all swimmers must wear swimsuits
BATHHOUSE
- the
bathhouse is for the use of swimmers and park patrons only
- coin
operated and personal lock lockers are available
- horseplay is
not allowed in the bathhouse
REST
PERIODS
- a 15 minute
rest period at 2:45 pm is enforced for children
- an open swim
will be held at this time for adults 18 and older
- children 1
year and under may accompany adults in the water at this time
- additional
rest periods may be enforced pending weather
OTHER
RESTRICTIONS
- horseplay,
running, pushing, splashing, etc. is not allowed in the pool or
on the deck
- posted rules
for diving must be followed when using the diving boards
- Coast Guard
approved life jackets are permitted only with parental
supervision in the water
- children who
are not toilet trained must wear swim pants – swim pants are
available for purchase at the front entrance
- swimmers
with shoulder length hair must have their hair pulled back
MANAGEMENT
- lifeguards
have the right to restrict swimmers to designated areas based on
their swimming ability
- managers
have the authority to suspend pool use to individuals misusing
the facility

conditions for
closing the pool include – temperature below 68°F,
persistent rain, electrical storms over or around the pool,
mechanical breakdowns and swim team competitions
- the City of
McHenry and staff of Knox Park Pool are not responsible for
personal injuries or lost or stolen articles
